Girls' Shopping Extravaganza and Unmotivated Gourmet Sunday

The Kate Spade Grand Opening was FABULOUS!  The store is absolutely gorgeous, the employees are dripping with impeccable customer service and the merchandise is, well, it's Kate Spade.  Nuff said.  The shindig was high class with champagne, passed hors d'oevres, a DJ, the cutest In Style Magazine rep ever, and our very own Chassity from Look Linger Love.  Let's just say that I turned it into my very own cocktail party/fashion show/girls' day out/shopping spree.  What a fun day! Yes, I got a little carried away.  Oops!  Among a few other items, I ended up getting one of the pocket books I posted about here.  Here she is in all her glory:

Coming off of such a busy weekend, the hubs and I were pooped and didn't feel much like cooking a complicated Sunday Gourmet recipe, but we had to do something for the premiere of Boardwalk Empire!
We picked up 3 mini lobster tails, pre-made mashed potatoes (I know, but we were REALLY tired), and asparagus.  Here's the easy recipe.  It was also pretty affordable as far as a lobster dinner goes...$42.

Steamed Atlantic Lobster Tails:
6-8 small lobster tails
1 stick of butter

Fill large pot with approximately 3 inches of water.  Bring to a boil.  Insert steamer.  Add lobster tails and steam for 10 minutes max.
Melt butter over low heat in a small saucepan.  Serve in small bowls or ramekins for dipping.

Baby girl's butter slathered arm.  She ate more like soup than a dipping sauce.

Kitchen Sink Asparagus:
1 bunch asparagus
Chopped Herbs (I used fresh ones from my herb garden - Rosemary, Thyme, and Parsley)
Salt
Pepper
Ground Red Pepper (dash)

Cut tough ends off of asparagus.  Place on cookie sheet.  Toss with olive oil.  Season with Salt and Pepper.  Cover with chopped herbs.  You can use really any herbs, fresh or dried (use less if dried because they are more potent).  Sprinkle with red pepper (paprika works too if you're a fraidy cat). Roast in preheated 400 degree oven for 10-15 minutes, until it is slightly crispy.

p.s.  The purple font is in honor of my new purple Kate Spade skinny jeans.  Holla!
