Nerd Alert and Venting Session

I love to read.  After dinner I start counting the minutes until I can lay in bed, turn on my Kindle, and get lost in my latest guilty pleasure.  I read for entertainment, escape, and relaxation.  I guess that makes me a Nerd.

At least once a week, someone is posting on FaceBook or a blog about needing a good book to read.

Here are some of my latest and greatest:

Gone Girl

The Paris Wife

Guilty Wives

The Expats

Cutting for Stone

50 Shades of Grey Trilogy

Bringing Up Bebe

Hoda: How I Survived...

Gone With The Wind

Scarlett

That should keep you busy for a while!  I'm reading Where We Belong right now.  It's stay up til 2am because I can't put it down kind of good!

Now, please bear with me while I vent a bit.  I just don't understand how businesses stay afloat when they offer the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!

There's an upscale children's boutique in town that carries just about everything, so it's a convenient one-stop shop.  However, considering the nasty way all the employees treated me during my last two visits, I don't think I'll be shopping there any more.  Ugh.

I experienced the same crappy treatment at a consignment store when I brought in clothes to consign.  It's like I was bothering them.  Ummmmm......  Without clothes to consign, they wouldn't be in business.

Finally, I visited a local coffee/bagel shop where I always buy cappuccinos (a serious addiction).  After 3 months of the cappuccino machine being broken, I asked if they were going to fix it.  A valid question, I think.  After all, they're a coffee shop.  The girl behind the counter nastily said, "no it's too expensive to fix so I suggest you go to the Starbucks down the street."  Wow!  Really?!?!  I just don't get it.  With the economy in the toilet and small businesses suffering, you would think that customer service would be at an all-time high.  Not so much.....

Thanks for listening!!!

  1. I'm an obsessive reader too, hoarding books left and right. I read Gone Girl and the 50 Shades series and loved them both. Talk about intense! My most favorite recent read is The Lost Wife. It's a quick and easy read that'll have you in tears at the end. Check it out!
