Overload

My brain is on overload alert.  Like code red here friends!

I attended my first blog conference ever this past weekend with one of my long lost besties.

We had a great time and are just plain pooped today.

Here are the top 5 things I learned at Bloggy Boot Camp:

1.  This crazy blogging world is full of the most unique, fun, cool women!  I made some wonderful friends and helpful connections.  We'll all hopefully keep in touch through our blogs, twitter, and Facebook!
Lori and I bonded over our mutual girl crushes - Connie Britton and Connie Britton's hair.  Lori is hysterical and I hope to be able to hang with her again!
2.  There are so many things I should be doing, should stop doing, should keep doing, should change, etc., etc., etc..  It's going to take little tiny, eensie, weensie baby steps.  I have so many questions.  Should I convert to Wordpress?  Is it worth it?  Do I really need to spend every waking moment on Twitter and Facebook to get followers?  Where do I get those cool blue and green wedges someone was wearing?

3.  Twitter is the end-all be-all.  I'm not a big Twitter fan.  Guess that's going to have to change.  I'm trying to spend less time on my phone and computer, not more.  Ugh.  I'm going to shoot for 3 tweets a day (baby steps, remember?).  Follow me on Twitter!
I should also do more on Baby Mama Juice's Facebook page.  Again, baby steps.  I commit to two FB posts (at minimum) per day.  Follow me on Facebook!

4.  I need to become an expert at PicMonkey.  I've tried it but it takes me forever.  Practice makes perfect.  The problem is having the time to practice.  Any quick tips from you PicMonkey experts?

5.  When crashing a wedding, you should dress for the occasion!  Yes, I'm almost 37 and I crashed my first wedding.  We were asked to leave within 10 minutes of being there.  I'm thinking it was our attire. I didn't even get to show off my signature dance moves (i.e. the sprinkler, dental floss, and grocery shopping). The crazy part is that we met another wedding crasher there.  Thanks for the memories Marissa and Amy!
This wedding was seriously cray cray y'all.

New friends: Me, Amy, and Marissa

p.s.  Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice?  Because I have absolutely no patience in my exhausted state today.  I almost blew a gasket at Little Gym today.  Our teacher, Miss Courtney, is a saint.  I cannot imagine putting up with the crap she deals with every day.  It's called a "Parent-Toddler" class.  Not a "I'm going to ignore my child while he/she runs amuck and let the teacher babysit" class.  I'm not afraid to scold someone else's child when they're in my baby's face. Have you been to Little Gym?  Do you get frustrated too?

  1. Glad you had a great conference and was initiated into the Wedding Crasher club. Look forward to hearing more about what you learned. I know there are so many more things I could be doing, but unsure if I want to devote any more of my time.

  3. Now I'm extra sorry I didn't meet you on Saturday because I love Connie Britton too :) I have a lot of work to do on my blog too. And I understand about Little Gym - I take my boy to a parent/toddler class at a local gym and it's probably one of the most stressful parts of my week, but I do actually stay with him!

  7. Great recap! We saw some strange things coming in and out of that room! But hey, why not be circus freaks at a wedding?? And I made the switch to WordPress.org in March and am so glad I did!!

  8. In with you on PicMonkey. Its great but takes me forever. I have to try out every single filter and font. One day when I'm famous and I've made it, a pic monkey genius will be the first person I hire!!

So great meeting you! Now ditch the scrapbook and find something as fabulous as you are!!

  9. Hi Amy! So sad I didn't get to meet you this weekend...I met Catherine at lunch and she pointed you out to me, but everytime I went to go talk to you, I got distracted somehow! I'm in Charleston too, and there were several others there as well! I'm looking forward to reading more about you!

  10. Ok I need you to dish what you learned with me!! Is Twitter really that big of a deal? It is the one thing I don't do! It gets to be too overwhelming with all this social media. I have never been to Little Gym but that makes me not to want- that stuff stresses me out. Im dying laughing that you crashed a wedding!

  11. Definitely get on Twitter! You start off wondering what you'll say and then out of nowhere you'll be tweeting up a storm!

  12. I had SO MUCH fun meeting you at the conference!! I'm totally jealous of your ability to carry yourself so well in 18 inch heels. I wore flats... And still got blisters. I know you're probably calling me a waahmbulance.

  13. Awesome Recap! Following you on Twitter now. My takeaways from BBCChar are to set office hours. Be 100% present whether I am working or spending time with family. Focus on the end game and what it takes to get there. What a wild, but fun, ride!

  14. First love that you crashed a wedding!! I try my hardest with Twitter but it's just soo hard to keep up. If you don't check it for an hour there are like 1000 new tweets or I do tweet and then I get bombarded with 100 questions that I don't have time to answer b/c I'm busy doing stuff in my "real life" and then I start to stress out about not answering people fast enough. I prefer instagram I just think that is easier of course it's all pictures but I feel a lot less pressure than I do with Twitter

  16. I attended my first blogging conference last fall. There is SO.MUCH. to learn. I just took it baby steps too. First and for most you want blogging to be FUN. Don't feel pressured to do all of the things they taught you. Just roll with watcha got! I am attending the Haven Conference this summer and I can't wait to meet so many wonderful bloggers that I have been following for years!
