Current Events

** Today, instead of enjoying my daily downtime and writing my blog post, I spent the afternoon at the Allergist consoling Baby Girl while she was poked and prodded.  Poor wee one.  They found out that she's allergic to...wait for it...nothing.  Huh.  Interesting.  Can someone please explain to me why she's always stuffy and coughs her head off every single night?! **

** I did get to enjoy my first ballet class in 6 weeks this morning while Baby Girl was in "Mom's Morning Out."  It was great to be back, though, extremely painful with my horrific shin splints (from running on my heels).  We've decided to add on an adult tap class immediately after ballet.  I couldn't be more excited.  Just call me Ginger friends, I'm gonna tap my buns off! **

** We're currently suffering through the movie "Riddick".  Ugh.  Bleh.  Is this how men feel when we make them watch chick flicks?  If so, I feel really bad about that.  Sorry Mr. BMJ.  Thank goodness I have my blog and wine to keep me occupied.  Un. Watch. A. Ble. **

** Speaking of movies, have you seen "American Hustle" yet?  If not, you must must must see it, especially before the Oscars.  Out of the line-up of contenders, this year, I will be rooting for "Hustle" for sure.  Go see it for the A-List cast, soundtrack (I was dancing in my seat), and fabulous 70s fashion!  You know you can't resist a fat Christian Bale with a comb over!  Sexy! **

** Why does everyone care so much about Justin Bieber and his bad boy teenage antics?  He got busted, finally, duh....  He's been on a downward spiral this entire year.  It was bound to happen.  He's getting more press today because of a DUI than most celebrities do when they die.  So he used to be a cute, sweet, innocent boy who could (somewhat) carry a tune and all the tween girls gushed over.  Drugs, alcohol, and fame will ruin you if you let them.  This isn't the first or last time this has happened.  Let's move on to something that really matters, like NY Fashion Week. **

** I'm still working out the details about getting to NYC in 2 weeks.  I really really really really really want to go, but it's not exactly easy with 2 weeks notice, a 3 year old, custody weekend, and difficulty finding a partner in crime.  More importantly, what the heck am I going to wear?  I got my hair did yesterday and my amazing hairdresser, Donnie Ray, told me that he's going to be working the Carmen Marc Valvo show.  Shut the front door.  I HAVE TO GO!!!! **

** If you live in Charleston, Cinderella Day is an amazing cause for young girls in the area.  Hundreds of girls will receive free prom dresses, jewelry, shoes, and accessories to make their prom nights magical and memorable.  I'm donating a dress for the cause and hope to volunteer during the event.  Go to cinderelladaycharleston.com for more information about how to help!  They are looking for donations, volunteers, and more! **

**Have an amazing weekend my friends, stay warm and out of trouble, and don't do anything I wouldn't do! ;) And Carter, if you're reading this, I promise to post those recipes next week.  Cross my heart! **

p.s.  Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice?  Because I asked Baby Girl what her middle name is the other day and guess what she said?  Dot com.  Oh my.  Bless her heart.  What have I done?

  1. That's crazy baby girl didn't have a single allergy! How is that possible?! The Miley/Bieber pic is hysterical. It's uncanny how much they look alike. I wish I could go to NYC with you!! I watched that Courtney Kerr show and saw she went to the Carmen Marc Valvo show too, was that the one you were at? Did you see her there? How could you miss all that camera crew!

  2. Poor Baby Girl!!! I'm allergic to everything under the sun so I've had allergy testing numerous times and its awful every time. Does she eat a lot of dairy? I know this is crazy but I have found when I eat less dairy I have less stuffy nose/sneezy/coughing- the cough could be post nasal drip from the stuffy nose. Just some ideas! I was like this as a kid and wasn't diagnosed with allergies until I was around 8 or 9 and then we found I had a whole host of sinus structure issues that required surgery- hopefully that is not what she has and just has some undiagnosed allergies.

  3. It could have a lot to do with Charleston!! My allergies have been nuts....and worse in the wee early mornings. {Picture sneezing attacks when I'm trying to get my last couple hours of shuteye...ugh} I have been coughing in the evenings too, my throat will just get itchy and mucus-y (ew) but then I'm fine in the morning. I never had allergies until I came here...never.

  8. Allergies are a crazy thing -- a lot of allergy tests won't show anything but there could be a food sensitivity the tests aren't picking up. Dairy and gluten are two big ones. Dairy in particular is very mucus-forming.Local honey is supposed to be great for allergies too. If you get to NYC, give me a shout. Would love to drink some BMJ with 'ya! xoxo

  9. I have TERRIBLE allergies. Last year I went into anaphylactic shock. What am I allergic to, nothing, well actually lots of things (that don't show up on the test) but when combined create the perfect storm. What are those things? I don't know. Ugh so I feel for her.

I just love her "dot com" middle name. She is too funny.
