Doing the Rain Dance

Charleston was drowning in the torrential downpours this morning.  I'm pretty sure I ruined my Cole Haan flats in the huge puddles at Baby Girl's school.  Gravel parking lots and flats don't mix after 3 hours of rain.  I know, it's definitely first world problems, but man it made me grouchy.

I know I've been threatening for months, but after this morning's fiasco, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Brick Red High Gloss Hunter Rain Boots.  I luckily found them on ASOS.  They're practically sold out in every store.  Figures.  They truly can't get here soon enough.  I've lived here for 10 years without a pair of rain boots.  That's just silly.

I already own a cutey pie Hatley raincoat that I get so many compliments on every time I wear it.  How cute is it going to look with those boots?!  I may just be doing the rain dance more often now.

Hatley Rain Coat - Sold Out :(, similar here

After having a long discuss about rain gear with the mamas and teachers at school, I decided to share my favorite raincoats and wells on the blog, just in case you find yourself in the same situation.

Have you heard of Joules?  It's an adorable British company that carries some really adorable clothing and, of course, wellies.  They're pretty reasonably priced too!

 The have prints....

They have bows....

They have traditional....

Boden USA, yet another amazing British clothing company, carries some wonderful hooded raincoats.

Check out these ensembles I put together:

I picked up this preciousness from Target this morning for Baby Girl.

She announced that she needs yellow rain boots to go with them.  Nice coordinating little one!  Now I have to decide if the yellow girl's Hunter boots are worth 50 bucks.

p.s.  Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice?  Because our school district has canceled school once again later this week and I have to miss ballet...again.  That will make 4 weeks with no ballet.  That means 4 weeks with no exercise.  Yikes.  I need to get my butt in gear.

  1. I don't have rain boots either- I keep saying I'm going to get a pair and then I don't. I'm really like those Joules wellies- I might need to give them a second look

  2. I totally justified my green Hunter boots for like the 4 times it gets cold and rainy in Tampa...I absolutely love them and they have really good traction for slippery surfaces :-)

  3. Your rain dance was working today! Rain boots are my go-to item in Charleston!

I LOVE the brand, Joules! We sell it at Irresistibles, on king, where I work occasionally.

  4. Teen daughter has the first Joules wellies you have pictured! She loves them. Took them to France with her and they have been worn a LOT since it has rained probably 5 out of every 7 days in the almost 5 months she's been there!

  6. That is so great that you do ballet!! I love your new boots! I have them in gray and adore them. I need to get the inserts for more coziness. I love the other boots you mention...I would get them with the bows!!

  7. I definitely don't think kid's Hunters are worth it because their feet grow so darn fast! I think my 3yo has gone almost two sizes in the past year. They can handle the cheap-y Walmart and Target ones. I love your brick reds though, I've been wanting to pull the trigger on some Hunters for a while...got my first pair of rain boots since living in Charleston now almost 9 years, at Rack Room for $25 and while cute, they are not comfortable. Always hurt the top of my feet. I want some Hunters!

  9. Loving the Joules boots, but after finally getting some Hunters last fall they're definitely my go-to. I need a "big girl" rain coat though so off to Boden I go. Love the combos you created!
