For some reason I feel the need to use alliteration for my Friday titles. Maybe it's because of all of the Five On Fridays, Friday's Fancies, Friday Football, etc. I started Friday Funnies last year and decided to add some Friday Favorites in the mix.
Since Baby Girl finally graduated from her Bumbo seat (best baby purchase ever) over Christmas break, at the ripe old age of 3 years and 2 months, we've been spending a ton of time at the kitchen table rather than the breakfast bar. I'm a bad bad mommy and allow her to watch cartoons during breakfast.
She can't see the TV from her brand new, big girl, kitchen island bar chair so we're utilizing my favorite table in the whole house much more often. We had our kitchen table custom made to fit the space and our family. I protect it with my life and many cans of Pledge. It's such a treasure.
Long story long, we never used it much in the past, just for a family dinner here and there. I bought a neutral table runner from Home Goods for $10.99 and put our giant fish bowl and beta fish, Splash, in the center and called it a day.
Unfortunately, Splash's giant bowl is too big now that we're actually using the table. His fish face has since relocated to a better spot, and I had a big, lovely, empty space to fill.
In comes Mr. BMJ's high school friend, Diane Elson Bankoff. She is one unbelievably talented lady. She owns Elson & Company which makes designer, handmade carpets, dhurries, and most recently, table linens. We have one of her amazingly gorgeous rugs in our Master Bedroom.
I would love to fill my entire home with her beautiful creations. Mr. BMJ visited with her family while he was in Washington DC a few months ago and she sent home a few of her new cloth napkins.
The Hatch napkins she sent are perfect for our kitchen! They are neutral, interesting, and, most importantly, easy to care for. After doing a little digging, I found out that they were designed by the one and only Sally King Benedict. That made me squeal.
I love all of Elson & Company's napkins. Here are a few more of my favorites:
This week, I finally got around to styling the napkins. I went to one of my favorite stores in Charleston, the Coastal Cupboard, and picked up a few inexpensive placemats and napkin rings. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out!
I took the kitchen table photos with my new fancy camera. I love it, but obviously have a huge learning curve to hurdle. I'm no photographer and no florist...yet! ;)
p.s. Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice? 1. Because I finally got some meds for my sinus infection, ear infection, and bronchitis. Yikes! I already feel better! 2. I went to Play It Again Sports to look at treadmills, and the least expensive one they had was $630. Ugh. I need someone to sell me theirs for $250. I don't think it's going to happen.
