Oscars 2014 Recap

I'm moving at a snail's pace this morning because I stayed up way past my bedtime watching the Oscars.  Who else was up until midnight?

As usual, I enjoyed the show and think Ellen is an amazing Oscar host.  She kept it light, interactive, and funny.  My favorite parts were the group selfie, the pizza delivery, and Glenda The Good Witch.  Keeping with tradition, the show was an hour and a half too long and we actually switched over to watch "True Detective" from 9-10 and didn't miss a thing.  All of that fluff in the middle is so boring and nobody gives a hoot.

At least my best and supporting actor guesses were correct with Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.  They were both so well spoken and grateful onstage and had 2 of the best acceptance speeches of the night. I was shocked that Meryl Streep didn't win best actress, but I didn't see Cate Blanchett in "Blue Jasmine".  I also didn't see "12 Years A Slave", but I wasn't surprised that Lupita Nyong'O won best supporting actress.  I guess I have some movies to watch....

The talent was amazing this year.  Pharrell Williams and Pink absolutely nailed it.  Bless sweet Idina Menzel's heart, aka Adela Dazeem, was so nervous and it showed in her performance.  If you didn't watch the Oscars, John Travolta introduced Idina and butchered her name so badly that Twitter blew up about it and a new account was created for his mispronunciation, @adeladazeem.  I was laughing so hard I was crying at the tweets.  This fake person now has 15.3K followers.  I think Travolta cooked his own goose this time.

Now, on to the fashion.  I thought that this was one of the classiest Oscars ever.  Everyone looked gorgeous and there were very few, if any, absolute fashion failures.  These are my top 5 best dressed, with Lupita Nyong'O as #1.

That's my official recap of the 2014 Oscars.  What did you think about the fashion?  Do you agree or disagree?  Do you love Matthew McConaughey even more than ever?    How do you feel about Jared Leto's hair?  I think he can pretty much get away with any hairstyle with those blue eyes!

Alright, alright, alright!

p.s.  Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice?  Because Baby Girl didn't nap again today.  Please tell me she isn't dropping her naps.  Please oh please oh please.  Mama needs her alone time!

  2. Baby girl so does need her nap! She loves her sleep too much to give it up! Hopefully this is just a short faze. I stayed up until the very end! Your picks are same as mine with the exception that I liked Jennifer Lawrence's red dress too! The baby blue is my favorite!

  3. I agree about that last dress! No thanks. Ellen's selfie was too funny. As to John Travolta, Isn't there a teleprompter or something. Idono maybe ask around for the proper pronunciation...maybe?

  4. My favorite dresses were your first two as well - Kate Hudson's was WOWZA. Everyone looked amazing. And seriously John Travolta - you had ONE JOB the entire evening. ONE JOB. I have to watch all these movies now, I'd only seen American Hustle and liked it. I will be tracking down DBC in one immediate-gratification online form or another. PS: Morgan tried giving up her naps for a few weeks and now I just laid the smack down. Mama ain't budgin either.
