Plantation Chic

I hope everyone had a wonderful, sunshine-filled weekend!

Mine started off with a bang on Friday when I was able to go with two, new, lovely friends (Colleen and Lee) to lunch and shop on King Street, in downtown Charleston.  We laughed, ate, drank, and loved our few hours of girl time!  We also had a fun photo shoot that I will share later on this week.  Lee just happens to be a photographer.....  Lucky me!!!

I was on a mission to find something to wear for a wedding reception/oyster roast/barbecue on Saturday afternoon.  Outdoor events totally stress me out, especially when the forecast is warm and 80% chance of rain.

I decided on a "plantation chic" look that centered around my beloved Hunter rain boots.

We found the perfect silk shirt in the new Madewell store on King St.

The necklace was on sale and the perfect accessory to toughen up the feminine blouse.

I've never had the pleasure of going into a Madewell store and it did not disappoint!  It's the slightly more mature sister store to J. Crew.  I'm definitely going to be a regular.  Their jeans are perfect for this Baby Mama Juice figure!

The reception was breathtaking.  The plantation was like something out of a movie.  I love the city, but will always be a country girl at heart.  The gorgeous green fields of grass, enormous old oak trees, and breathtaking views made me long for my family farm.

They had a bluegrass band, delicious local oysters for shucking, and tasty barbecue to eat.  There were so many thoughtful details like their wedding photos (from the night before, talk about quick turnaround) hanging from the trees, sweet messages on the tables, and their signature drink of hand squeezed lemonade and Sweet Tea Firefly vodka.

The day turned out to be beautiful.  The storms passed by the time the party started and my boots handled the soggy ground like it was their job.  I received so many compliments on my outfit.  It was the perfect choice.

The new bride and groom are deliriously happy.

A good time was definitely had by all!

p.s.  Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice?  Because we have a home photo shoot and video session on Wednesday afternoon to help sell our house.  Ugh.  More cleaning.  Yay hooray.
