Mexican Memories

Happy Monday friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and 4th of July Holiday!

We had a crazy whirlwind of the last week and a half.  Whew.  Don't shoot me but I'm sort of glad it's Monday and we're back on a normal schedule.  I'm pooped.

Mexico was just as you can imagine.  Five days of kid-free, responsibility free, relaxing bliss.  Our hardest decision was where to eat and whether to lounge at the beach or pool.   We scored an upgraded ride in a stretch limo, drank tasty beverages, saw an interesting Michael Jackson impersonator, met some scaly wildlife, and danced all night in the "Discotheque."

My only complaint is that the food was less than amazing (which is the downfall of staying at an all-inclusive in my opinion), but when someone else is doing the cooking and cleaning, I'll eat it and say "gracias."  My favorite meal there was the ceviche.  Yum.  I'm going to experiment and recreate this deliciousness.

We stayed at the Excellence Playa Mujeres.  It's an adult only, all-inclusive resort in an area about 30 minutes north of Cancun.   This was our view.  Not too shabby.

I packed bikinis, cover-ups, and sundresses.  My pink and green bikinis were perfect.  I packed a few dinner dresses that I bought locally at one of my favorite boutiques, Thera M.  They were comfortable and cute which is exactly what you need on vacation!

We were gone for 5 days and 4 nights.  We've never left Baby Girl for longer than that.  It's a perfect amount of time and I'm always ready to get back to her by then.  It's so hard to leave her and I worry about her every moment when I'm gone, but it's so beneficial for me to recharge as a mommy.  I'm with her all day every day so we need a break from each other every once in a while.  I reflected on how I was doing as a parent, thought about what I could change and do better, and what was working.  I was so excited to see her when we got back and I've had more patience during some of her "difficult" times.

p.s.  Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice?  Because we had an offer on our house last week from a family who has been looking at it for 2 months.  We were excited and I even found a rental house, but it fell through.  Oh well, I don't have the energy to pack anyways.

  4. Looks like the perfect relaxing getaway. You seriously have the BEST vacation clothes. And those bikinis are killer -- next summer, when I get my BAB (body after baby) back, I'm coming to you for recommendations! Sorry the house sale fell through. We are experiencing the same frustration right now, ugh. Keep praying to St. Joe!

  10. Your view was so awesome! That resort looked very nice. I hear ya - those all inclusive resorts can have strange food options. The margaritas looked like they made up for it though. ;-)

Love that picture of you in the black dress. Hot mama!

Going to copy that last quote and put it on my blog. It brought tears to my eyes. So true...

  11. What a perfect trip! Minus the food I guess - good to know since our first all-inclusive trip is in August. Just say gracias (and more margaritas) is right though when they're doing the work. And on that note, I will need to borrow your Mexican wardrobe since it was so perfect its first go-around ;)
