Looking Forward To It

I haven't put on real clothes or make-up, or fixed my hair since Saturday.  I'm looking like a hobo these days and I'm not proud of it.

I'm going completely and utterly stir-crazy too.

Baby Girl has been sick since Thursday evening and we've been cooped up playing nurse, and changing the sheets on her bed about a million and one times.

We have had some casualties too:  one twin sized mattress, a set of twin sized sheets, a pair of pajamas and a pair of Frozen undies, a purple blanket, and a towel.

Ugh.

My poor little sweets is still so sick.  We think it's the flu.  Double ugh.

She perked up on Saturday morning and hadn't started destroying the bedding yet so we did attend two surprise parties.  She didn't have a fever for most of the day and we had no idea how sick she really was.  Oops.

The first was a sweet surprise baby shower for an excited dad-to-be.

The second was a surprise 30th birthday party on a harbor cruise for my friend, Christina.  It was a cold but clear night and the sunset was spectacular!  I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Bourbon and Boweties.  She is such a sweet, outgoing, generous woman!  I love supporting businesses like hers!

The mayhem started with Baby Girl about 10 minutes before we got home Saturday night.  I felt awful for leaving her when she was so sick (mom fail) but am glad I got to leave the house before the  worst of it set in.

When the going gets rough in January and the weather turns craptastic and threatens to give me the worst case of Seasonal Affective Depressive Disorder, I like to have a list of things to look forward to.

So, here's what I have so far:

Late January:  We have a fancy charity ball to attend with a few couple friends.  We're getting our hair and make-up done for the event.  Rob Lowe is making a guest appearance.  We must look our best! ...and...
Our new baby girl is born!  That's right, we're going to have 4 girls in this house!  We have a sweet little Havanese puppy joining our family and couldn't be more excited!

February:  "Fifty Shades of Grey" comes out on the big screen and we have a huge girls' night in the works!

March:  My friend, Brooke, is flying into town so we can go to Charleston Fashion Week! ...and...
We're planning a trip to NYC for the whole famdamily for spring break!

April:  We get our baby girl furface! She will be 10 weeks old and able to join her new family.  I'm so excited to go out and buy her collars, leashes, beds, toys, etc.  I'm overwhelmed with puppy fever.

May:  We're taking a long weekend to check out the gorgeous Palmetto Bluff Resort outside of Hilton Head.  We're taking the puppy too.  Eeek!

July:  My favorite band in the whole wide world, Dave Matthews, is playing in Charlotte and I'm going to see them!

What are you looking forward to during this blah time of year?

p.s.  Why do I drink Baby Mama Juice?  We had a house showing on Friday.  They gave us a 30 minute warning and I had a sick kid in the bed.  Of course they aren't interested in the house. When is it ever going to end?!

  1. Ugh not a good week for you and Ivey! Hope she gets better soon. Your hair looks super cute short by way! I'm so excited you're getting a dog! You're going to love having a little fur-ball running around your house! But potty training is the worst, all dogs should come obedience trained and potty trained!

  7. I am really looking forward to spring/summer weather and the fun outfits that go with it. I doubt I'll be going to CFW this year, boo. I'm looking forward to May, when my baby girl turns 1 and we have a big "rainbow" bash for her...and I'm also {hopefully} looking forward to having the rest of the baby weight gone by then! :-) It's been a long road. Congrats on your new puppy, I hope baby girl is feeling better now.

  8. I make the same kind of list to get through the boring/bleak times. You have a lot of fun stuff coming up!

I'm sure you've been warned about the puppy, and obviously you've dealt with a newborn, but it can be rough. Make sure you stock up on pee pads!
